The eve of "Burning Crusade" is less than two weeks away, but due to character duplication, before the arrival of the eve, WOW Classic will enter a state of waiting for update, and some features will be closed or removed. The Auction House will change before the TBC update, which requires players to prepare in advance to avoid being unable to log in.

 
 

As revealed by Blizzard on the game's official forums, auction houses across all WoW Classic servers will be shutting down at 10 AM PT/ 1 PM ET on May 14, and won't be brought back online until the arrival of the game's Burning Crusade pre-patch following server maintenance on May 18. The move is being done to help get the game's existing servers ready for their Burning Crusade upgrade, as well as to prepare new, Classic Era servers which won't receive the pre-patch.
 
In order to prepare our game service to be ready for both the upgrade to The Burning Crusade Classic and the availability of Classic Era realms on May 18, we will close the Auction Houses on all WoW Classic realms at 10:00 a.m. PDT (1:00 p.m. EDT) on Friday, May 14.
We expect Auction Houses to become available again when the game service resumes following maintenance on May 18.
We advise WoW Classic players to refrain from posting new auctions shortly before the closure, as it will not be possible for other players to access the AH thereafter, and deposit fees cannot be refunded.

The auction house is the main means of the game to sell various items in the game and is an important part of WoW Classic’s economy. With no auction house for 5 days, players only have to advertise their products in game trades and general chat, and manually trade items and gold to each other. This has already happened to some extent, but it’s easy to interact with the entire server to get raid consumables and attractive materials, rather than clicking on the list of lowest prices in the auction house. Should be an interesting economic experiment.
