Tencent and The Pokémon Company Team Up to develop new games
On July 22, Tencent Games and Japan's Pokémon Company jointly announced that they will team up to develop Pokémon's new games. The main R&D work will be undertaken by Tencent's TIMI Studio.

The release didn’t say anything about which platforms or any other details about the games. Tencent is the mobile giant behind Honour of Kings and PUBG Mobile (now called Game of Peace) and other big PC titles in China like Crossfire and League of Legends.
This is the latest in a string of recent major partnerships The Pokémon Company has sought with eastern mobile developers. In May, it announced it would work with DeNA on Pokémon Masters, a mobile title planned for launch before the end of the current financial year. Also that month, The Pokémon Company struck a deal with NetEase for the Chinese developer to release Pokémon Quest in China, and a localized Pokémon Go release is allegedly still in the works.
“If it’s a console game, it would be explosive,” Liao Xuhua, a gaming analyst at Beijing-based data consultancy Analysys, told KrASIA. Timi Studio Group developing a Pokémon console game would mean that Tencent and Nintendo’s cooperation has been elevated from distribution to co-development, Liao added.
