Temtem is a Pokémon-inspired MMO, made by Spanish developers Crema Games. Players can explore the airborne archipelagos, catching Temtem, battling other players, chatting to NPCs. Temtem is a successful game, due to it addresses many of Pokémon's shortcomings.
In this spring update, Temtem has brought Ranked Matchmaking and Other Features to the gameplay.
The biggest item in the update is the addition of ranked matchmaking, which relies on an under-the-hood rating system called your "Tamer Matchmaking Rating." That system rates your performance and grants points to match you with other players who have a similar TMR. Temtems are auto-scaled in ranked battle, with their level raised to the current level cap (currently 48) and max SV (50).
The developer Crema says: “We’ve designed a new rating system called TMR (Tamer Matchmaking Rating) which will rate player’s performance and grant you points for winning matches. Players are matched against each other automatically, based on their current TMR. In order to help new users join the matchmaking ladder (and help expert users try new strategies), every Temtem is auto-scaled on ranked battles. This means that their level is upped to the current level cap (48) and all their SVs are maxed (5). TVs remain intact.” In addition to increasing your TMR by winning matches, Tamers will receive pansun rewards in the future once Crema finishes testing out the monetary reward aspect. Speaking of testing, Crema also plans to fine tune ranked matchmaking over the next few months. “We also plan to include more advanced features in the future like seasons, leagues, medals, and more rewards.”
The game will attempt to set you against tamers with a similar TMR. Eventually, you'll be able to compete to win pansuns in matches, though that feature is temporarily disabled while developer CremaGames makes sure everything is in working order. That and other features will change over the coming months as the studio refines its vision and implementation for Temtem ranked matchmaking - including competitive seasons, leagues, medals, and a bunch of rewards to earn.
The ranked system uses Crema’s Tamer Matchmaking Rating to compare and match you with other players. Winning matches will reward you with points, which will move you up the ranked ladder. Wins will also earn you a reward in the form of Pansuns – once the system is worked out, that is. This means players will be able to dive completely into PvP if that is their preferred game mode.
