Will Apex Legends offer cross progress or cross purchases?
Though Apex Legends cross platform play is on the cards, it's likely your account and progress will still be restricted to each individual platform. Talking to Eurogamer at launch, lead producer Drew McCoy explained: "Unfortunately we won't ever be able to do cross-progress or cross-purchases, which is a bummer, but due to the way systems were set up early on we can't reconcile it after the fact." What this means in practice is, your unlocks, purchases and stats will be restricted to each individual platform, so you cannot start on PS4 and then access the same account details on PC. So before you make any serious time or money investments with the game, make sure you pick the platform you'll be happy with long term.
Apex Legends crossplay is going to keep PC players separate from their console rivals — for the most part — Respawn has confirmed, after fans expressed concerns mouse & keyboard fans would “dominate” once the new link-up feature is introduced.
Jake Smullin responded to the "Apex Legends" cross-platform game feature on TikTok. He said: "There needs to be some clarifications about the Apex Legends cross-platform game. Only if you agree to form PC players will your team have PC players. I have been seeing many console players worrying about this issue, but I hope this is not your trouble. So there is no more saying that after cross-platform, PC will dominate us."
For Play For All, GameSpot staff played Apex Legends with Justine Huxley and Roger Craig Smith, the voice actors for Natalie "Wattson" Paquette and Elliott "Mirage" Witt, respectively. During the stream, we managed to secure several thrilling wins and discussed what it's like to voice characters in one of the most popular battle royale games.
