Rainbow Six Siege R6 Year 6 Roadmap: Crimson Heist Release Date, New Operators, Map Reworks and More
Ubisoft’s shooting game "Rainbow Six: Siege" announced its sixth-year updated planning roadmap. It includes four new operators, as well as multiple map remakes and changes. No new maps appeared in the sixth year of the plan.
Rainbow Six Siege Year 6 Release Date
Ubisoft has confirmed that the new Season of Rainbow Six Siege and the start of Year 6 will begin next month on PS4, Xbox One, PC and next-gen consoles. The Rainbow Six Siege Year 6 release date has been set for March 16, with new operator Flores headlining operation
Crimson Heist.
New Operators
The new attacker, named Flores, will be an armor attacker from Argentina. Flores will be outfitted with a gadget called the RCE-Ratero Charge. This remote-controlled explosive will allow players to drive it through the map then turn it into a bomb after a certain amount of time. What makes the RCE-Ratero Charge different from a recon drone is its ability to lock down and become bulletproof after its timer has expired or it’s manually detonated. Flores will be able to use the AR33 or the SR-25 rifles. This season will also feature a reworked version of the Border Map from . The modified map will reduce the amount of destructible walls and add an additional outside staircase. A new secondary weapon called the Gonne-6 that can tear through bulletproof defender gadgets.
Map Reworks
Year 6 also brings the usual map reworks with each update, revisiting Border with Operation Crimson Heist, coupled with Favela and Outback in later seasons. Year 6 Season 3 will also feature multiple smaller map tweaks, although currently unspecified. Ubisoft states it still sees increased value with map reworks, with no plans for new maps in 2021.
Other changes
Siege's popular Test Server is also getting some changes. Currently acting as a testing ground for the next season, players will start to see more changes appear on the TS further in advance, potentially a couple of seasons before full deployment. Ubisoft is also working on Siege's underlying tech, working to identify and mitigate DDOS attacks, fix connectivity issues by using community data, and even shrink the game's install size – particularly on PS5 and Xbox Series S/X.
Y6S1 also adds a new secondary weapon for attackers called the Gonne-6, which is a single-shot weapon that can destroy defender gadgets, and the anticipated match replay system for PC players. Ubisoft says it’s not available for console players just yet as it’s still in beta.
All these changes will be rolled out over the course of the year. It should be noted that these will all hit the Technical Test Server on PC first, and may live there for an extended period of time, as Ubisoft wants to ensure changes are right before deploying them to the main game. It may be that some changes do not graduate to the main servers.
